Vineyard

In our Estate Zinfandel Vineyards, we are passionately devoted to cultural practices that help us achieve vine balance. Vine balance equates to flavorful wines of quality and distinction. Our time tested practices include: shoot thinning and suckering each vineyard twice, tucking branches in our specially designed trellis system to minimize disease and maximize light and air penetration, leaf pulling, crop thinning, cluster positioning
and irrigation management.

Stonum Vineyards supports and farms sustainably, which according to Lodi Rules means “farming in a way that is environmentally and socially responsible while also being economically viable.” Fruit we purchase from other Lodi vineyards must also be “Certified Sustainable”, and farmed according to our quality standards. Wines made from these vineyards are single vineyard designated, always recognizing and honoring the grower.

Winery

Winemakers Mike and Kathy Stonum have a simple philosophy – “ the best grapes make the best wine”. Our process is small batch, labor intensive, and terroir driven . Grapes are hand harvested with minimal intervention in the winemaking process. All fermentations are “native or indigenous”, meaning we use the native yeasts that naturally live on the grapes and do not add commercial yeasts.

Our mission is to create handcrafted, artisan estate and single vineyard wines that capture the intense flavors and complexity while preserving the balance and integrity of the fruit. Our wines will always faithfully represent the terroir of origin.
